Our community came together for Giving Tuesday, a global generosity movement that aims to unleash the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world. This year was particularly special because you could double your impact when you gave, as Miles-McClellan Construction Company pledged to match all donations up to $5,000. Thanks to your support, Star House raised $7,402.55, enabling us to reach our match goal and double our impact! This means that Star House raised $12,402.55 for Giving Tuesday. Thank you for joining us as we work to empower Central Ohio youth to exit homelessness for good!
Carol Stewart Village residents have been working diligently with social enterprise start-up, Petals that Inspire, since February to learn the art of floral design—a unique job skill—and develop soft skills for long-term employment. In November, residents were ready to show off their skills by creating beautiful centerpieces for Thanksgiving. Warming kits for Star House guests were also available for purchase, which included warm blankets as well as hand and foot warmers. Thanks to our community's support, $430 was raised for Star House and 100 blankets with hand warmers and foot warmers were donated for Star House guests.
Monetary Donations
Now more than ever, Star House would benefit greatly from discretionary general operating funding to support our day-to-day services for youth. Please consider making a monetary donation. Item Donations
We currently accept new and gently used items. Items can be either mailed or dropped off at Star House's drop-in center (1220 Corrugated Way, Columbus OH 43201) between 10 A.M. and 2 P.M. Monday through Friday. Star House's most urgent needs include the following in adult sizes:
Men's underwear
Men's sweatpants
Deodorant
Sweatshirts (Men's & Women's)
Razors
Toothbrushes
Men's shoes
Sleeping bags
