Dear Friends of Star House,

So far this year, Star House has served 275 individual guests and their small children at our drop-in center with over 4,533 visits. Star House guests are provided access to food, clothing, hygiene items, laundry facilities, showers and a safe place to be. Beyond basic needs, our clinical team provides therapy and case management, and partner agencies provide on-site and community-based access to stabilizing resources, such as housing, transportation, employment, education, addiction services, legal aid, government benefits, ID cards and health care through our partners Nationwide Children’s Hospital and PrimaryOne. We are forever grateful for your support, which gives youth experiencing homelessness in Central Ohio hope and a chance to thrive.

On March 7, Star House was featured on a 60 Minutes episode that explores how COVID-19 has affected the nation's low-wage workers, particularly those who were struggling in poverty prior to COVID-19. The episode shines a light on youth homelessness in particular and brings national attention to the challenges young people experiencing homelessness are facing in our community during one of the most unequal recessions in modern history. We are grateful for the opportunity to have participated in the 60 Minutes episode. If you haven't seen it yet, you can watch and read the full segment here. Several news outlets in Ohio covered the segment and mentioned Star House, including The Columbus Dispatch and Columbus Alive. You can access those pieces from our news blog here.

Do you have dinner plans for April 8th? If not, we invite you to help support the mission of Star House through a virtual cooking class with The Kitchen! Participants will have the opportunity to prepare an elegant dinner for two using a provided meal kit and virtual instruction, led by The Kitchen’s very own Head Chef, Dustin Boninsegna, and owner, Jen Lindsey. Meal kits will contain the required ingredients and a list of any additional necessary items or equipment will be provided.

Tickets are $80 and include dinner for two; $35 of each meal kit and $5 of each add-on sold will go back to support the mission of Star House. All ticket buyers will receive a 3-course meal ingredient kit. To join us, please RSVP by April 1st, 2021.

Learn more about this and other upcoming events on our event page here. To view the menu, learn about where to pick up meal kits and purchase tickets for Cooking for a Cause, use the link below.
