About the CEO

Before joining the Star House team in April 2016, Ann founded mentor programs for youth and alumni of foster care through Starfish Alliance; she was senior director and Joyce Foundation fellow with a nonpartisan child policy think tank, KidsOhio; served as consultant for Ohio’s successful effort to extend supports for foster youth through age 21; and she staffed the offices of three senators, as a fellow of the Legislative Service Commission. She has served on the National Institute of Health (NIH) HEAL Initiative Community Stakeholder Board; the Ohio Attorney General's Human Trafficking Commission; the Columbus Metropolitan Club Program Committee; the Franklin County Opiate Recovery and Community Engagement Committee; the local Committee to End Youth Homelessness and various other boards and committees serving vulnerable youth. Ann is called upon regularly to share about the unique needs of vulnerable youth and strategies for serving them well — including through Congressional testimony and on 60 Minutes. She earned a Masters in Educational Psychology from The Ohio State University. Ann is married with three daughters.
